| ICOMOS Marks Day of World Heritage | culture.in | 19 Apr 2010 | | | | Macedonian National Committee of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) organised a forum on the topic “Agricultural Heritage” at St. Joakim Osogovski Monastery at the weekend to mark 18th April, the International Day of Monuments and Sites, or the Day of World Heritage. The participants in the forum also visited Lesnovo Monastery and Bargala Archaeological Site.
Selection of the topic, “Agricultural Heritage” is a part of the international effort to evaluate values of this type of heritage deriving from legitimate social and scientific needs for protection of any important features of the natural and cultural heritage generated from agrarian activity during history (clay houses, orchards, mills, irrigation channels, wells). The Day of World Heritage has been marked since 1982 and since 2001, it has been accompanied with professional fora on different related topics. | |
