The town of Kumanovo lies at the bottom of Mount Kozjak, just 35 km away from the capital and 15 km away from the northern border. With its 103.205 population, Kumanovo is the economic, trading, and cultural centre in the northern part of Macedonia and is our northern gate at the very important north-south transverse. According to some documents, the town was given its present name in 1519. The surrounding area abounds in many picturesque landscapes, important natural rarities, and many cultural and historical monuments.
