Krusevo is a small picturesque town, 159 km away from the capital Skopje. Situated at an altitude of 1,350m, it is the highest town on the Balkan Peninsula. It is also a town museum with traditional architecture; with more than 80 houses protected by law. In 1926, well-known French architect Le Corrbuisier, came to visit Krusevo and was astonished by its architecture. |
Krusevo was mentioned in documents dating back to 1467-68, when it was given as a mezra to Hussein-beg (ruler) together with Prilep and 30 other places. By the end of the 18th century, Armenians came from the region surrounding Korce (Albania) and Mijaks from Mala Reka. They were traders, handcrafters, woodcarvers, and fresco-painters.
