The Bird sanctuary –Ezerani The bird sanctuary covers the northern coastal area of Lake Prespa, at 885m altitude above sea level and is protected by law. It is a home to approximately 200 bird species, including wild geese, pelicans, and local moorhens, which live and nest in the area; 62 species of these birds are on the list of protected species according to the Bern Convention.
Brajcino village The village of Brajcino is situated 6km from Lake Prespa in a valley on the edge of Mt. Pelister. Brajcino is a mountain village at an altitude of about 1,000m above sea level, disturbed only by the evening winds rustling through the trees. The village has just around 150 inhabitants and 100 houses, because in the middle of the 20th century, many families from Brajcino emigrated to Canada, the United States, Australia, and Scandinavia. If you take a walk through the village, you can see its picturesque old architecture, including six churches and the monastery of St. Petka, which reflects the Macedonian tradition. St. Petka Day, 8 August, is a village festival. The night before, everyone joins the evening mass, the festivities, and the dinner of beans, sausages, and fresh salad. What would impress you most is the hospitability of the village people and the warmth you would be greeted with. Once in Brajcino, every house is your home. Tourists are most welcomed to join the locals for a family lunch or to chat the evening away over a cup of coffee or tea.
