Galicnik

Galicnik village
The village of Galicnik is just 17km drive from Mavrovo or over 5 hours walk across wonderful hill sides. This traditional village became most popular because of the event called “Galicka svadba" (Galicnik Wedding), held on 12 July every year. This is an event to commemorate the traditional wedding customs and show tribute to the Macedonian cultural heritage. The bride and the groom, as well as the wedding quests, are adorned in the beautiful Galicnik folk costumes, famous for being one of the most luxuriously ornamented, as compared with other folk costumes in Macedonia, or even the Balkans.

LazaropoleLazaropole village
One of the highest villages in Macedonia and one of the cleanest places on the Balkans is situated on a plateau on Mount Bistra, surrounded by beech and oak forest at an 1,350m altitude. The village has about 400 houses, but particularly picturesque is the village church of St. Gjorgji, built in 1838, the first church ever built under Ottoman rule in the Mijak region. The church occupies the central position in the village and the site has a special name - Oraliste. The church construction started on 15 April 1832 and ended on 2 August 1841.The church is surrounded by a wall made of hewed stone, which is 4 meters high and inside the wall is the bell tower.

Tresonce village
According to certain sources, the village got its name from the Latin words “tre sanchi,” which mean "three churches." The village is famous for its two waterfalls, only one of which is accessible. Other attractions include the beautiful horses kept by the local people, who offer tours in Tresonce and the surrounding villages. Like all other Mijak villages, Tresonce is well known for its ritual approach towards the celebration of life and inborn sense of beauty and esthetic forms.
