Screening of Woody Allen’s new film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” will mark Wednesday the start of the 12th Skopje Film Festival. “Spring Film Awakening” is the slogan of the week-long program, which is divided into main, author films, special projections, documentary, Eastern European western, short and one-minute films and retrospective of Branko Gapo films. Emphasis is put on festival hits, including “Waltz with Bashir”, “Palermo Shooting”, “Rumba”, “Sukiyaki Western Django”, “The International”, “Hunger”, “Maradona”, which will be screened in the Cinematheque and Ramstore cinemas. Two premieres of Macedonian films, international co-productions, will also be held. These are feature “Wingless” of Ivo Trajkov and documentary “Cash&Marry” of Atanas Georgiev. The only workshop within the festival will be held on April 25-28, moderated by Ivo Trajkov, due to result with readymade short films, which will be projected at the festival’s closing. Award “Student Ribbon” will be presented to the best student film, whereas the Cinematheque award for outstanding contribution in cinematography titled “Golden Lens” will be posthumously given to Branko Gapo. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the City of Skopje, as well as commercial sponsors. |
