Doyen of Macedonian cinematography Ljube Petkovski (b.1924) was awarded Monday by the Macedonian Cinematheque with “Golden Camera Lens” award for outstanding achievements in Macedonia’s film industry. Throughout his career he has worked at about 100 feature and documentary films and has received high recognitions at international festivals. Making a retrospection of Petkovski’s body of work, film critic Ilindenka Petrusevska linked his aesthetics and sophisticated taste to his youthful interest towards flying. “What has always fascinated me in the films shot by Ljube Petkovski as a director of photography was his sensitivity prior to the chromatic differences between black-and-white and color photography”, said Petrusevska. Speaking to the media, Petkovski said he was pleased with what he had left behind. “Each movie offers many experiences, meetings with very good people, with actors, associates. What I was able to say, I believe I said it through my work. It speaks for itself”, Petkovski stated. |
