Skopje's Various Trades & Crafts Through the Centuries
Romanian Emperor Roman III Argir (1028-34) sponsored the refurbishment of an old church point located in the immediate vicinity of the city of Skopje, near the Serava River, on what was known as the Virgin Hill.
The preserved Virgin Charter of 1277, which openly states the emperor’s gift, also points out that the monastery dedicated to St. George-Skoropomosnik had been approved to have an annual fair organised on its premises on 21st November every year -- a festivity of the presentation of the Mother of God.
