The city of Strumica is situated in the Strumica Valley in the southeastern part of Macedonia at an altitude of about 240m above sea level and has a population of about 45,000. The town, surrounded by 72 villages, is the biggest settlement in the valley, characterized with a pleasant Mediterranean climate, due to which Strumica is the largest producer of early market garden products in Macedonia. Other agricultural products include poppy, cotton, tobacco, sesame, etc.
